Today, my friend Heidi and I went on an adventure to Lost Creek Falls. It was a fun day! A total of 4.5 miles today. It was a very pretty waterfall. The dogs had fun together. We need to put our thinking caps on for the next adventure!

So I braved the bad weather and took my positive attitude to Whiskeytown Lake for the lunar eclipse. I knew it was a long shot with the cloud cover. The moon kept playing peekaboo through the clouds. I thought that might be pretty cool if I could get some shots of the eclipse even if they were partially obscured by clouds. All was good until about five minutes before the start of the eclipse then it was completely obscured by tons of cloud cover. This is all I got. One lone shot pre eclipse.

I am going through some older photos and ran across these from several years ago. Back in the day, my kids and I used to take our first backpacking trip of the year in McCloud along the Squaw Creek. This is one of my favorite places to go. Easy hike for the first one of the year!

Mike and I made a quick trip to Yosemite to try and catch the tail end of Firefall. It didn't pan out quite the way we wanted. We had a hard time picking a spot to view the Firefall and the weather didn't cooperate. We thought it would but clouds rolled in and blocked the sun. Oh well. We will try again next year!

Last Tuesday, I took myself to Lithia Park in Ashland, Oregon. It was gorgeous! The leaves were a little past prime, and it was overcast, but I'm glad I went. I'm looking forward to next year!

So i did a one night solo camping trip last night. I like to do those so I can test equipment and make sure everything is together before I drag my better half with me! Another early morning walk. This time to Crystal Creek Falls. Millie and I bypassed the lower Falls and went up to the Upper Falls. I figured we would hit the lower portion on the way out. This week has been extremely slow for me so I have been taking advantage of it and taking Millie out hiking. Of course, with the heat, they have all been early morning hikes. We are usually back in the house by 8 am! As you can see from the video, Millie enjoyed this morning's hike! Before the Carr Fire, this used to be my favorite hike. It's still a hike with historical value, but I sure miss the shade it used to have!

Got talked into photographing a bike race at Whiskeytown. This ought to be interesting!

So, Mike, Millie, and I had such an enjoyable evening photographing the Northern Lights the other night. We decided to go out last night, even knowing that there would be no glimpse of the elusive lights. We chose to go up in French Gulch, above town, and photograph some star trails. It was the perfect end to a great Mother's Day. This is one of the shots that was captured. Of course, it never fails, that you have to have some pilot photo bomb the shot!
