Beaches, Pastel Sunsets and The Most Amazing Crabcakes!

Last September Mike and I ventured up the Oregon Coast. Five days of nothing but wonderful! I was so excited! I had a list a mile long of everything that I wanted to hit.

Our first evening was spent in the small town of Brookings. I love Brookings. As most of you know, my mother is a host with Oregon State Parks and has hosted at numerous parks, Harris Beach being one of them. I knew what this beach had to offer.

We were plenty early so we checked in to the hotel room and decided to go get a bite to eat. We headed down to the harbor to Sebastians. I probably should have just stuck with the appetizers and beer that we got. They have the best crabcakes and crab stuffed mushrooms IN THE WORLD! I got through that and just had to box up my main course of the Cajun Chicken Alfredo. It was amazing!

So, stuffed to the brim we rolled on down to Harris Beach for some sunset photography. The gods smiled upon us that day. The sky was absolutely amazing!

Brookings is such a cute, quaint town where people are friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. One breakfast shop that we visited was the epitome of this. Not only were they friendly, they had the fastest service. It’s called Mattie’s Pancake House. This place rocks! The first day Mike and I went there we thought it was just a fluke that our food was out so fast. We went back the next day. It’s not a fluke. From the time we placed our order with the waitress to the time the plates hit our table was 6 minutes. I didn’t think that Mike was going to be back from the restroom in time to see the arrival of his pancakes. It’s crazy. Not only are they fast but the food is amazing!

Brookings was a great stop off on our trip to Cape Perpetua near Yachats. We look forward to going back.
